Bahamas Spring 2008 - Page 07

We are on our way to Samana Cay. Jean is checking the cruising guide and telling me it is not a recommended stop.

Art says "No problem! We just do the dog leg and stay in the middle of the very narrow pass."

We really did arrive at Samana Cay. Jean was right, since this is not a recommended stop, there were no other cruisers and the beach was deserted.

Art getting a picture of the deserted beach.

Jean is walking along the deserted beach looking for the fisherman that supposedly come here from Crooked Island and Acklins Island.

Here is an abandoned fishing boat above the surf line of the beach.

A path to a deserted fishing camp on Samana Cay.

Notice the A frame in front of the Samana Cay fisherman's hut. The grass and weeds were bent under the A frame indicating recent use for sleeping.

There must be fishermen somewhere around. The recently washed clothes drying by the open pit well is a clue to recent activity. There is a bucket and rope hidden in the grass for getting water from the well.
